Karbon Token was created to unite the precision of blockchain with the integrity of ecological stewardship. Built on the Kaspa network, Karbon connects verified carbon sequestration projects directly to transparent, on-chain offsets.
The project’s foundation is rooted in the Tulley Creek watershed on the Yurok Reservation in Northern California — a 16-acre forest parcel being restored using Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and modern carbon management practices. The goal is to bring balance back to the land through cultural fire, habitat restoration, and responsible carbon measurement.
Karbon Token extends that restoration model to a global audience, allowing individuals and businesses to participate in offsetting carbon through a transparent, verifiable, and community-driven system.
The Genesis
Five years ago in July of 2020, a 16-acre parcel within the Tulley Creek watershed returned to Yurok ownership for the first time in over a century. This land, on the outskirts of Ke’nek — an ancient Yurok village at the center of the Yurok world — had been logged and neglected for decades.
Our mission is to restore this land using Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) alongside modern tools. Through cultural fire, ecological stewardship, and careful management, we are working to bring back balance, biodiversity, and resilience.
Karbon Token was created to extend this mission: a way to connect real carbon sequestration on Yurok lands with a transparent blockchain system that businesses and communities can trust. By holding and burning $KARBON, participants directly support restoration, offset their emissions, and become part of a movement rooted in both tradition and innovation.
The Karbon Framework
Karbon operates through a simple, two-layer model designed for clarity and trust:
• $KARBON (Currency Layer)
A fixed supply of 25,000,000 tokens — never minted again, never burned.
Used to acquire offset tokens within the ecosystem.
• Offset Tokens (Annual Vintages and Special Issuances):
Tokens such as KARBON25 or KARBON25-S1 represent verified carbon sequestration.
These tokens are burnable to retire carbon and generate verifiable certificates.
This model ensures that every ton of carbon retired is both measurable and permanent, backed by verifiable data and transparent blockchain records.

The Founder
Toby Vanlandingham
Founder, Karbon Token · Yurok Tribal Councilmember (2017–Present)
Toby Vanlandingham has served as a Yurok Tribal Councilmember since 2017, overseeing the Yurok Tribe’s nationally recognized forest carbon offset program. He played a key role in reintroducing cultural fire to Yurok lands through the Klamath River Local Organizing Committee in 2012, combining cultural knowledge and environmental restoration.
